The RaptorBook Engine is an open source project dedicated to bringing public domain etexts and ebooks into the mainstream. This site was originally launched as a proof of concept for the engine behind it. Currently, the site is a test bed for engine development. We plan to release the full source code for the engine in the summer (2003) when we complete the second version. More about the project.

Experimental DocBook output
   We are starting to work on the DocBook output module. It is publically available, but should not be considered reliable or accurate.

Site layout changes
   As you can see, we have been working on the site layout. We moved to a brand new server this week, and decided to change the site layout based on some browser issues which has been reported to us. The previous layout did not work well in Konqueror, and had a few minor bugs in Netscape. Hopefully, we have fixed these.

New format added
   We have just enabled the Rich Text Format (RTF) output module. There may be a few bugs when viewing the RTF output in various viewers, since they do not all use the same version of the RTF specification. We will be working out these minor bugs over the next couple days.

   We have added a title search page which is accessible from the main browse page.

SourceForge
   We have created a project profile on SourceForge for RaptorBook. When SF's site is available again - they are currently down for maintenance - we will post more information.
